Managing Partner

 

The Managing Partner, Mr. John Otieno Abwuor, is an Academician and a qualified legal practitioner with a Master of Laws (LLM) from the University of Nairobi, a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Campus Law Center, Delhi University, a Bachelor of Education (Arts) from Kenyatta University, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. At Masters Level, Mr. Abwuor, specialized in International Trade and Investment Laws. His thesis was entitled, “The Role of the Court in Arbitration: A critical analysis of the Kenyan Arbitration Act No. 4 of 1995.” Mr. Abwuor is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a Commissioner for Oaths, and Notary Public. He is also a Patent and Trade Mark Agent, with current Practicing Certificates.


Until 3rd July 2013, Mr. Abwuor was an advocate at Murgor & Murgor Advocates, which is a leading International law firm based in Nairobi Kenya. Together with Mr. Philip Murgor, former Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), he handled clients such as the Central Bank of Kenya, Standard Chartered Bank, City Council of Nairobi, the Central Depository & Settlement Company (CDSC), National Housing Corporation of Kenya (NHFK), Tusker Mattresses Ltd, 748 Air Services Ltd, Lolldaiga Hills Ltd of Nanyuki, Zuku TV, Young & Rubicam Inc.(Y & R), a leading marketing and communication Company with branches worldwide, Jipe Villas Ltd, and Rogrum Ltd, Amboseli Trust for Elephants, Bridge International Ltd, Cockrid (K) Ltd, the Law Society of Kenya, Karago & Associates Ltd, Merlin Logistics Ltd, Snow Desert (E.A) Ltd, Adra International Ltd, Linques Communication Ltd, Commission for the Implementation of the Constitution(CIC), Independent Electoral & Boundaries Commission ( IEBC), etc. He has also acted for Futuristic Ltd.


 

Currently, Mr. Abwuor represents Plastico Industries Ltd and Fuji Motors (E.A) Ltd in commercial matters pending before Milimani Courts in Nairobi, among others. Prior to joining Murgor & Murgor Advocates, Mr. Abwuor was the Registrar In charge of Administration, Planning and Development at Inoorero University. He was the former Deputy Principle of the Kenya School of Professional Studies (KSPS) before the same became Inoorero University. He has taught law at KSPS, Inoorero University, the Presbyterian University of East Africa (PCEA), the Management University of Africa (MUA) and Kenya Institute of Management (KIM). Presently, he teaches law on part time basis, at Day Star University Town Campus, in Nairobi.
